got that, just watched it, if i practiced every day for four years, and played in a band, and tried to learn how to do that i could,  but that oldfogie jazz and blues and  what ever the hell it is, is not my bag.  i much rather invest my time in this.

She sounds pretty average to me - being a young girl gives her a free pass, there's a bass player in a bar band in every town in America who can play those parts. Having said that, there's a bar band in every town in America who can play Rolling Stones songs better than the Rolling Stones can, but they're not getting paid 60 million dollars to do so either....  :toothy10:

I disagree, I think shes excellent and more importantly its amazing technique used in a very musical way which is a rare occurence!!!

Beck's whole show has been downloaded over on YouTube (who knows how long...) I guess I just don't get it. She plays some nice fills on "Angel (Footsteps)" but she waffles the beat a few times, she's got a quick unison part on "Big Block" between 4:18 and 4:30 but on that song and "Led Boots" the bass should drive, man.... Rock bass is about time, and she's not locked with Vinnie. She seems nervous, tentative & consequently overplays - though obviously she'll get better quick if she can keep getting such great gigs after the novelty effect wears off. I love Beck's playing to death, but he doesn't keep a touring band together long enough anymore for the entire unit to acquire that supernatural glow - the same thing happens with McLaughlin and the intermittent Dregs reunions.

(I hope I can catch the Corea/McLaughlin band towards the end of their tour though, and the summer Return to Forever tour might be smokin', now that Al DiMeola's personality has mellowed somewhat... :redflag

I agree with Jack, sounds average to me as well, and who cares that shes been playing 4 years, I don't care if she'd been playing for 4 hours, I'm sure she's been playing some instrument (piano?) since a todler.

If she wants to impress me she's gotta do it topless,  that might not do it either

i'm not sure i'd call her average. but she's nothing amazing. i didn't find her atractive either

here in japan americam music is every where. lots of  rock bands doing van halen covers. most of them suck, but there is a privately owned blues bar i go to. this place breeds talent. it's crazy. i'll have to post some videos if i buy a camcorder.

my buddy from the base plays there (his wife is japanese). he's only been playing guitar for 2 years though he admits he plays constantly, hours every day.  i've been playing 9 years and i can't play with him without feeling like i haven't acomplished anything.
