Chambered mahogany w/camphor-burl top...Canary-on-canary neck, black binding & hardware...3 P-90's...already seems a bit odd looking to me;
lovely wood, but odd as a guitar, perhaps...let's put 'er together and see what shakes out...

The only ODD thing is the Top Jack rout  :icon_scratch:

Odd looking?  Maybe the pictures are telling a different story, but that is far from odd.  Amazing is more like it.

By "odd" do you mean "more beautiful than you'd ever expect a guitar to be"?  :icon_scratch:  :hello2:

That Camphor makes me think small animals pranced around on it with ink on their feet.  It's always an interesting wood.

I was about to comment that camphor burl always looks to me like a pack of big cats ran over soft ground, before I even read Autobat's. That will be a strikingly unique axe.

Very cool Great Ape... :icon_thumright:

I haven't seen anyone do any Camphor burl since Doc N Rock did his VIP.

That really looks sharp with the black 90's and the canary... :party07:

Nice, nice and nice.  Is that a clear finished Camphor top ?  Do the photos show a lighter shade than the actual?

Yes, the finish is clear gloss, and the pics were taken on a sunny day, so it does look somewhat darker indoors.

HUH? I'm not sure exactly what your question(s) are, but I
can tell you that it's very smooth in the palm, no stickiness (it's unfinished), and the fingerboard
is like a perfect (for me) blend of maple & rosewood--smooth but not slick, just enough texture.
Whatever the reason may be, I don't get along very well with maple fingerboards, but the canary
is pretty damn dreammy stuff. See the completed guitar on the 'Work in Progress' thread.
