Cagey's Quilted PRS VIP Build

Hehe! Yeah, I know. But, I put a helluva lotta time/effort/money most of last summer into trying to get that top to look good, and it just wasn't happening. So, one day I was shooting something else with that cream color, and thought "y'know - you could solve a lotta problems in a hurry here..." So, I did.

I've got a pretty fancy neck for it anyway, so it's just as well the body not compete with that. She'll be pretty, eventually. I just don't work on my stuff when I've got other people's stuff here.

Re: Cagey's useta be quilted PRS VIP build---Mmmm, mmm, mmm-vanilla! I like it! Gorgeous finish work, Kevin!!

Thanks! That's still the final clear coat. It hasn't been finish sanded or buffed out yet. So, it'll improve a bit more still.

Just a quick update - not really working on this at the moment. But, I never could get that top/back to look good. Long story short, it's covered up now...

Still it looks good...I wish I had grabbed one before the re-shape...

Cagey, that vanilla cream really looks nice on that girl!  :glasses9:
It's a bummer you couldn't get the burst to work out, but I really like the way she is now as well.
I have almost done a cream strat a bunch of times and probably will before I die.
I am right along with ThtOthrPrsn; I wanna see the neck that's going with that cream.  Pics if you would please  :redflag:
Good luck and  :rock-on:

This is the neck that's going on it...

And this is sorta how it's going to match up...

I think it would look nice with an all rosewood neck, minus the inlays.

Or a birdseye maple with some EMG's...

A shame you couldn't find a nice neck to go with that body....

Heh.

Nice work, Kevin.

Well, it is all Rosewood, but it has dots. Bought it out of the Showcase, so I didn't get a choice.

That is a beautiful piece of Rosewood  :headbang1:
It really set's off nicely with the sweet cream...
:kewlpics:

It's even nicer in real life. That fretboard is really dense and smooth, kinda like Kingwood or something, not open-grained like Rosewood normally is.

Haven't made up my mind. I have a set of rails - don't remember the models - from GFS, and I have a set from Bill Lawrence. I suspect I'll use the GFS stuff to start with, as I think they'll complement each other better.
