Congratulations! Spotlights can be nerve-wracking, I'm glad that worked out for you.
The less experienced a band/player is, the more likely it is they're convinced that the gear is the thing and if anything goes/sounds wrong, it will be the gear's fault. Never suggest that a little more practice/preparation would be in order. That's just stupid. You don't see their heroes practicing, do you?
