Well, it doesn't tune the guitar for you, but it still reminds me of the weird light up knobs that Gibson has grown so fond of:

It's basically like one of those tuners that goes by vibrations in the guitar itself rather than sound, right?

I believe it's part of your guitars wiring, instead of working on vibes. They've been used on this forum before.

as the products say 250k and 500k i would go with max that its a part of guitar wiring, dont know if that means its the sound or vibrations that are tested though.

Electrical signal.

It's basically like putting a stomp tuner in your guitar, but you pull a knob rather than stomp.  I think it's a really cool idea... one day I might get one, if I have lots of money to blow for some reason...

+1. i'd love to try it, maybe i'll throw one in my squier 51 if i've got money to throw away at some point. if it works thats awesome, if not i don't want to alter a guitar i really play a lot. very cool idea i think. tuning can be a hassle, and if the guitar does it for you what could be easier? would definitely make a quick tune-up much easier between songs!

It doesn't tune for you, it just shows if you are sharp or flat.

the way i think about it usually when i play we dont get much time, that and keepin the audience waiting isnt great. i dont have rackmount gear or anything so i have to rely on a regular tuner which is a real hassle cause you gotta plug in tune up and then re plug etc etc.....

for this you just pull up the volume knob, the thing lights up. play each string then tune. push back down and your ready to go!

pssh thats it? i thought there was maybe another page with tuners or something. actually thats still pretty damn cool, and means i wouldn't have to have a huge battery box up by my tuners. the robot headstocks look so heavy

EDIT: dammit, they got me. i want to try it.

That looks pretty sweet. If I had the money and was willing to actually take the time to put it in, I'd definitely buy it.

I have the N-Tune in one of my basses. It's pretty neat for when I don't feel like lugging a whole pedalboard along just to have a tuner. There are a couple of drawbacks though. It doesn't have the accuracy of a good stomp tuner (the range where it shows 'green' is a bit wider). And for my specific kind of music, which is accompanying a harmonic orchestra, it's a big disadvantage that you can't adjust the reference frequency. It's fixed at A=440Hz. Our orchestra usually tunes to 442Hz and if I don't join them that is really noticeable. But apart from that it's a great idea and it works very well. By the way, pulling on the volume knob not only activates the tuner but also mutes the instrument. It's not advertised all that much but having a 'kill' switch can be really handy.

I think the actual device that does the tuning does so through the vibration of the instrument rather than with the instrument signal.  The SPDT push/pull is just there to mute the guitar (nothing more annoying than a guitarist tuning over the house PA - especially if you paid a cover) and turn on the tuner.  The value of the pot is mentioned solely because it is replacing the pot.

It's actually cheaper than I thought.  $69.99 from Stewmac.  I was expecting it to be more like $100.  I don't know if I'd go out of my way to buy one, but I'd definitely put it on my Christmas list.
