Never heard of this guy (Brian Carroll) till today. I looked up a bunch of videos of this guy and he has amazing, and I mean "AMAZING" technical skills and blinding speed. Unfortunately, like many others like him, his music just doesnt sound like music. It just sounds like a bunch of ........stuff. It is however interesting to watch for a little while.

I feel the same way, I seem to remember he did some stuff  with Bill Laswell that was musically interesting. I don't recall any album names but check that stuff out too...

I alo enjoyed the work he did with Praxis/Bill Laswell: According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckethead_discography#Praxis, Buckethead is on all these:
1992: Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis)
1994: Sacrifist
1994: Metatron
1997: Live in Poland
1997: Transmutation Live
1998: Collection
1999: Warszawa
2005: Zurich
2007: Tennessee 2004
2008: Profanation (Preparation for a Coming Darkness)

I enjoy Praxis, where he's part of an actual group and limited to a role, but most of his solo stuff just descends into Yngwie-ism for me; 20 seconds of 'Wow!' followed by 3:30 of "Yawn.'

I do find his playing interesting, but not enough to really listen to a whole CD.

Still, that's only my opinion.

Yes, his music is at times interesting...
Additionally, he is making a living playing music and I'm not...
However, I am very challenged to give much credence to a man in makeup wearing a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head...
Maybe I am just wacky, but that is me...

I love buckethead.  I have often threatened to drop my bass and pick up a les paul, and a chicken bucket for my head!!

OK, maybe I didnt look at enough videos. I found some pretty good ones in the last few hours. This guy is insane ! I wish I had one quarter of his skill. :party07:

Bucket head is amazing for a bit, great chops and so forth, but hes like malmsteen, speed for the sake of speed

We all wish we could play like that, But we would want to interject some class and style.

You don't even need good TONE to play like him, just speed. I like him, But I don't love him.  He's good for about 3 minutes. I'd take Angus Young all day over buckethead

He is on the new Guns and Roses album too. Great player, but some of his stuff is to technical for me. I.E. I feel it lacks feeling, but other stuff he plays just blows my mind.

My favorite buckethead song is "wishing well"

I remember reading a story about how Ozzie wanted him but then decided not to hire him cause the guy wouldn't take off the stupid bucket on his head...ever. Pretty bad when Ozzie thinks you're too freaky. LOL

When I was maybe 6 or 7.

I always listened to a certain radio station.

He's definitely an awesome guitar player but I don't dig his music much :dontknow:

He is mostly an acquired taste. To me this one is one of his finest - Soothsayer:

And he's got a thing with making the kill switch groovy as hell. A good example could be when he plays Night Of The Slunk live.

I've always enjoyed the delusion that Buckethead is actually Paul Gilbert. I know it isn't true, but it would be funny if it were.

Some of his music is interesting, shredding aside, but as I said I prefer him as a part of Praxis. I'd rather floss my nuts with razor wire than listen to the 'new' GnR.

But speaking of Runs and Noses, I watched some of the Ron Thal Young Guitar video on YouTube and for the life of me I don't get it. It was annoying.

I like Mathias Eklundh. This video:

Is as funny as it is entertaining), but Ron Thal just irritated me.I must be getting old.
