So I found myself exploring a new part of the custom builder I had never seen before:

I don't even remember how I got there, in fact, I'm lucky to have made it out alive but did I read that correctly: Black Mother of Pearl Dots On The Side?  :headbang1:

I had another question regarding volume and tone knobs.

Do you guys carry black knobs with various abalone/(black) mother of pearl tops? Maybe even an amber ivory or something.

I have been stung by refinement.  :sad:

First thing you do when you get those knobs is pop the pearloid inserts off the tops. That is, if they haven't fallen off in shipping. Get some 5 minute epoxy, and reattach them. You're good to go.

They attach those inserts with super glue, and it's the wrong thing for those materials.

If you don't nip that problem in the bud, you may lose the inserts and not notice right away, which means you probably won't be able to find them.

Good to know, but I've never had that happen to me. I'll have to check that!  :icon_scratch:

I'm sure it doesn't happen to all of them. But, I've seen it happen too many times for it to be freak occurence, otherwise I wouldn't mention it.

I understand, and appreciate the heads up. You would figure that, at $12 apiece for some of their knobs, Q-Parts would do a good job of gluing things up!

I seriously doubt they're making them. They're buying them for $.37/ea from China and marking them up a little bit for their trouble.

I used similar knobs from StewMac in a 2009 build and on those the inserts also detached.
