Black Ebony over Afra Warhead Neck

New Neck Day!

As it says in the title, it's a black Ebony over Aframosia neck with the headstock recut to a Warhead ($45 adder). 1 11/16" nutwidth, 25.5" scale, Standard Thin profile, Pro construction.

Don't know exactly what I'm going to use it for yet, but it'll almost certainly be one of the new designs. That's why I didn't have it fretted. Don't know if it's going to need stainless or gold frets, so I'll do that later. I'm thinking either a Mooncaster or a Velocity. Had to have it, though. Love both those woods, and the lack of inlays.

Suggest going with the Velocity as a Warhead on a Mooncaster is a terrible idea. Until I get around to mine anyway...

I don't know... I think maybe it would good on something like this...

As attractive as the Mooncasters are, they're awfully pricey.

We'll see. I'm not in any hurry.

Beautiful brotha!! Really like the re-cut on the headstock. The warhead looks sweet. Can't wait to see what becomes of her. Excellent taste.

Thanks. I've always liked the look of the Warhead. Not as flamboyant as a Strat headstock, doesn't have the droopy dick look of the Tele headstock and still lets you have all your tuners on the left side of the head where they belong. If I'd have been paying attention earlier, I'd have more of them in the stable.

For those who aren't aware, they can always cut the Strat head to a Warhead for $45, so there's a huge selection to choose from. You don't have to wait for an appropriate Warhead to show up in the Showcase.

When I picked up BIG RED from Mike Lull's, I almost didn't want my old neck back, because now I have an unused neck lying around that I know will tempt me into building another guitar around. GAH!

Hehe! A lotta folks here need less of an excuse than that to build another fiddle. I mean, a neck is like 30%-40% of the thing. You're almost done!

Warheads are definitely the nicest headstocks I've seen for a while. Currently awaiting another Warhead neck for my Jazzmaster...
