Black Cherry Burst Strat (Planning Stages)

been thinking about a black cherry burst for a long time! here's my plan...

flat top strat, no forearm contour
tummy cut
contoured heel
rear routed (to show off as much top as i can!)
mahogany body
flame maple top
SSS routed, most likely a single sized humbucker in the bridge and singles in middle and neck positions
moving my warmoth purpleheart neck with ebony board to this build, and getting maple neck for my other warmoth strat
clear gloss back
black or white binding around body
graphtech string saver saddles (love them on my last build!)

here's my mock-up. wouldn't be for a while until i got this one off the ground!

except the neck would be a 3x3 design. thinking maybe it needs a carved top soloist body. BUT i like the stat body, and it would save me some money by not going with a big figured top. the laminate top and mahogany body i think would be awesome. possibly black korina if i could get the money for it.

comments? i'm excited about this one! nothing ordered yet. but i've got a head start since i've already got the neck

but with flame maple. quilted maple is just too "fancy" for me. no denying it can look amazing, but not for me.

so, what color binding? could go black and keep it in theme, cream to give it a classic look, or white to make it stand out. i'm thinking cream.

I agree. I've only seen a small number of guitars I really like quilt tops on anymore, even here

I had  Carvin with a finish that looked just like that. it was fuckin beautiful.
I just hate that those finishes get so fingerprinty
