I can't even get a good picture of this thing because it is like a black mirror.

What kind of finish is that? Did you have to buff it to get it to that degree of reflectivity?

Um, Do you not have to prime Guitars when you paint them?

When I've done wood based work in the past. I always put down an Automotive Filler/Primer before paint. it just made the prep that much faster, and a smooth finish that much easier.

the Primer just sanded quicker and got smoother faster than the wood.

but I've never painted anything Musical, just wooden sculptures/signs.

Would a thick Primer hurt sound?

It looks like your hand is being sucked into that black hole paint job. I challenge anyone to create a guitar blacker than that.

None more black. Unless you go for that non-friction Utter Black colour one of the spaceships in the HHGTTG has (which would be extremely cool but also very unpractical).

Imagine this: Utter Black guitar, Utter Black facepaint, Utter Black hairdye and Utter Black clothes. Now put fancy LED's on your guitar and do a show with it!

Tonar, I know it is only black, but gee, it has been done so well by you. That finish looks real smooth.  :icon_thumright:

I'm picking it up at the post office tomorrow. It has been there for about a week, but I've been working my ass off this week, so I havent had the oppurtunity to pick it up before closing time.

I'm like a child on xmas eve!

Well, there has been some delays in this project. I have to resend it back to tonar to have it refinished. I will do that as soon as I get some spare money again.

That said - I showed my dad the new Fire Burst project I have ordered, and he asked me why I use Ebony fretboards all the time. We had a little discussion about it, and I struggled not to tell him about what I have in my thoughts for his 50th birthday. He told me he actually liked maple fretboards on strats better. He also told me that he actually changet the neck on the strat I'm using for inspiration to build this one.
So I'm thinking that I'll go maple istead of rosewood.

When he replaced the neck with a maple-fretboarded neck, he actually built a guitar himself.
He used the maple w/rosewood on that project.
He sold it to a friend, and I have located a picture of it.

This is not my dad.

Let's blow some dust off this project, Tonar!

I'm sending the body back to Tonar as soon as the post office opens tomorrow, so that he can fix the finish again! It's an honor to work with such a talentful artist on this project that means alot to me!

I'm also sending Tonar a neck that he will unleash his nitro-magic upon as well!
