Wander around the site. You might get inspired.
I had no idea those were available. Thanks for the link. It makes my wallet itch.  :icon_biggrin:

I've never talked to him, but I've heard that about him. Great guy to do business with.

I have parts for a JCM 800 build - transformers, chassis, board, knobs... just waiting on cabinetry and a long weekend, but to be honest... since I got the 11 Rack, I haven't even turned on my tube amps - I only use my Carvin speaker through a solid state power amp.

I lusted after a Ceriatone JCM800 for a long time, and was just about to pull the trigger on one when I got the Axe Fx. Don't need it now.

I know what you folks means by treble....I love the clarity of high integrity high end, but can't deal with "shrill."  I don't know what the exact frequency cutoff is, or if it's a decib;e relation to other frequencies or what...but I can't stand a lot of really great recordings from the early-to-mid 90s, when digital recording was coming into vogue.  The recording engineers/mixers just didn't know how to handle the ability to record the high frequencies of Fender amps, esp. when Teles were running through them.  I love Radiohead's "The Bends" album so much - but it's just so physically painful to listen to it.

Cant wait to see gold H-gates in the pick guard. Package should be here tomorrow.

i bought a pot to put MIDI volume in the 2nd tone spot. S1/s2 is on a momentary toggle and mix is on a 2nd toggle that will go between the two pots. If I keep MIDI vol on the stacked pot, i have a push pull already in T2, and that could be useful. Bypass either guitar or MIDI vol comes to mind, as does a shallow bass cut.

Too many options, need to just button it up and play.

They're in. About all I can get done tonight - mow grass, a few more hours of work work....

I had to cut the hex plug - it just left too big a hole to feed the whole thing through. Need to make my "final" decision on wiring but right now I'm leaning towards:
1) Stacked Volume (Mag and MIDI)
2) Passive Tone control with
2b) push-pull

And there's the rub. Still trying to decide between something simple like switching between 10nF and 47nF cap values for more peaking, or use the push-pull for a fixed 3db bass cut. Hmm.. I've always wanted a shelving tone control - or at least a limit - so even if I roll it all the way back to 1khz, it only cuts 6db off. That might work with a bypass or series resistor with the cap... I'll have to think and sketch....

I stripped the pickguard down, measured, tried to space the two switches in the middle, but they ended up a smidge closer to the volume than I meant. Oh well. (And too bad you can't find gold plated switches) I think I recall the switch screws are #6-32, which is the same as light switch plate screws, but I couldn't find black phillips oval headed last time I looked. I really want to get all the screws in black.

Ah, well.. one of the switches is a momentary on-off-on. I found some nice looking ones on ebay, but the description says "these are NOT gold, they are Chrome, it's the lighting.". Wow, they sure looked purty.

Its ok. I'll just start my own MLM. Will be nice to get in on the ground floor for once.

OK, at a halt for parts. The Ghost Hexpander takes a 2mm pitch header, (whereas everything else in the entire world takes a 0.100" header).  I will probably shrink wrap female socket pins instead of stuffing a tiny header, but I don't have those parts either. I pulled the push-pull pot and just stuck a 250k Linear in there for a passive tone control. I figured if I couldn't decide what to do with it, stick with old reliable.  I'm not sure if you can tell it very good from these pics, but I think I'm gonna have to cut the pickguard and mount the GK3 from the under side of the pickguard. It just requires the bridge to be too high sitting on top.

I'm not generally a fan of natural finishes. This one, however, is really something. :icon_thumright:
