Avoiding high E string fall-off

    I just got a tele body with a vintage bridge rout, which means the strings are spread a little bit more than newer bridges.  I'm planning on a 1.650 or 1 5/8 nut width neck.  As long as the nut is cut correctly, I shouldn't have any problem with the E string being too close to the fretboard, right?

Not at the nut. But, starting about half-way up the neck, many people have trouble with that dimension.

Incidentally, Gotoh makes a Tele bridge with vintage mounting, but modern string spacing.

    Thank you very much for that link Cagey.  I'm going to get that bridge.  Along with the narrower spacing I also prefer the 6 individual saddles on a tele.
