I was recrowning the frets on a junkbox neck (maple one piece mighty mite with problems) that I've used as my trainer. Anyway, after polishing each fret with 0000 steel wool, I decided to try something. I put a foam rubber pad on my palm sander and squirted a blob of Macguiar's #7 and went over the frets with it for a few minutes. The end result is pretty good. Shiny slippery frets and a cleaned up fingerboard.
I wouldn't try this on an unfinished fingerboard, but I might use a buffing disc on my Dremel with a little bit of the magic gunk.
Opinions? Bad idea, maybe?
