An 8-string. And Floyd Rose and Kahler routing options.

The 7-strings are/were relatively a bust thanks primarily to the weird scale lengths. But your 28-5/8" baritone is pretty much PERFECT for 8-string, as most prefer 8-string scale lengths between 27 and 30 inches.

Plus Floyd Rose now makes production 8-string trems. :headbang:

Also, you can already do EMG 40 pickup routings, so offer passive 8-string pickup routing and the Dimarzio/Bareknuckle diehards will JUMP on it.

Last but not least, you must offer to drill the neck pocket holes. For whatever strange reason, you don't do it on your 7-strings and I ended up FUBARing one my builds because I don't have a drill press.

That is all.

:headbang1:

Not to spread rumors or anything, but if by some miracle there was demand, ken has a way of getting 8 string bobbins.

And the baritone scale length thing is true, Ibanez has theirs at 27 inches.

*bump*

The day they introduce 28-5/8" scale 8-string guitar parts...

+1 to 8 string option.  Also about a regular 25.5 inch scale 7 string.  The 25 inch thing is kind of weird.

Seems like tuning such a thing would be a full-time job all by itself. And how do you play bar chords? Do you need some sort of prosthesis? I mean, do they make a strap-on? Speaking of a prosthesis, how long before you have severe carpal tunnel syndrome from reaching around such a wide neck?

In re: Animals as Leader video:

I hate saying this, because it sounds like a diss, and I don't mean it that way - but:

It's hugely impressive from a technical virtuosity standpoint, but it kinda lacks any vinegar.  All that frenetic stop-start playing, double-kick-drum machine-gunning, odd time stuff - I wish I could play that good.  I also hope that if I could I would be able to touch my listeners to a greater extent than this touched me.

I wish Agile made basses.

They kind of do.  I haven't got their corporate hierarchy down of who they're a division of or who is a division of them, but Rondo does.

Noodling around, they had a custom order section where you could choose body woods, body shape, a list of scale length and number of string options.  Buyer beware though, I haven't seen or heard of anyone doing one.

The "custom order" screen only shows up sporadically. I suspect Kurt probably generates a list of what he thinks will sell 2 to 4 times a year, along with a list of custom orders, then sends a monster order off to whoever builds the stuff. Everything ships here at once in a couple/few big, fluffy container loads that stock his warehouse, and that's what you get to buy from for the next quarter or semester. There's no "build on demand" capability; when he offers the custom thing you might wait several months to get what you've specified.

On the plus side, some of it is really nice stuff at ridiculously low prices that's well worth waiting for. I've seen/played/owned some of the higher-end instruments, and Gibson really should be ashamed of themselves.

Every Conklin I've ever seen in captivity has been a 7 string.  If I had to guess or speculate what Warmoth would do first, a 7 string Gecko might be sooner realised than an 8 string guitar, IMO.

Yes.

Want more? :toothy12:

I need to see more of these beasts, I want to see 8 string blues, surf, indie, etc. Tired of meshugga and equally untalented wannabes.

I see they now drill mounting holes on their 7-string neck heels. :occasion14:

Still keen on a 28-5/8" scale 8-string with fixed bridge and Floyd & Kahler routing options.

I'd LOVE to see 8 and 9 string options.  I'm contemplating an Agile 9 string right now because of the lack of that option with Warmoth.  Kahler has the tremolo's available and Lace has pickups now - just waiting for the body and neck - ESPECIALLY the neck.  I could always do the body myself but a neck is a little out of my level of expertise.
