I wouldn't do it. At one time, a Gibson was The Guitar to Have. Only the best of the best played them, and it wasn't easy to get a better or even equal guitar for the money. That's changed dramatically, to where these days it's difficult to find guitars that aren't as good or better than Gibsons, and most of them cost substantially less. So, demand is going down. I expect that trend to continue, until only the historical museum pieces command the ridiculous prices we're seeing on the things. If somebody gave me a Gibson today, I'd have it on the auction block immediately before it lost any value. There are literally millions of them out there, so supply is already high. The law of supply and demand says generous supply+reduced demand=low price. So, Gibson prices are headed for the toilet. I'd wager in 10 years Les Pauls will be a dime a dozen, figuratively speaking.
