Alternatives for Koa Jazzmaster Build

I am thinking building a Jazzmaster and for the body I wanted to do mahogany with a non-figured koa top. But, Warmoth no longer does koa lam tops. What alternative wood should I use? I wish Warmoth would offer Tasmanian Blackwood as an option. Thanks for the advice

Figured walnut often gets mistaken for koa

Also roasted swamp ash is in the same ball park. Though you'll need the grained filled.

Check out the figured mahogany tops. I'd go with one of those and a chambered, lighter weight core. But ... that's just me. You do you!

I have a Mesa amp with Tasmanian Blackwood. Drop dead gorgeous wood !

That is some fancy looking wood! Did Mesa do a custom run of those or? I have the same amp in plain old black, really love it.

Also, there might be some some korina tops that might work, but I think UC Mahogany might be closest.

Not sure. I bought it used, it has a Private Reserve plaque inside.
