A tribute to dad

I did some math, and I think I'll be able to land this build on $2000.
Then I'll have $3000 left to build a Mary Kay strat, and buy two cases! Great Success! :hello2:

Okay, so now it's just two weeks until I get some money.
I'm sending a body to tonar so that he could do some magical things with it, and in a couple of months it'll be done, so that I can start to build this very special instrument.

I have come up with a neck that I think will do great for this guitar.

Style: Stratocaster®
Construction: Vintage Modern
Scale: 25-1/2 in.
Neck Wood:
    * Shaft Wood: Q-Sawn Maple
    * Fingerboard Wood: Indian Rosewood
Orientation: Right Handed
Nut Width: 1 11/16"
Back Shape: Boatneck
Radius: 10-16" compound
# of Frets: 21
Fret Size: SS6105 (Stainless)
Tuner Ream: Vintage Style (11/32")
Inlays: Cream Face Dots
Pre-Cut Installed String Nut: GraphTech White TUSQ
Mounting Holes: Standard 4 Bolt

I'm also sending the neck to tonar, so that he can apply some vintage tint tonar-magic!

Looking forward to get started!

Well, the body is ordered and on its way to tonar  :icon_thumright:
It's one piece alder, and I think it'l be awesome when finished!

I hope tonar can post some pics of the process in this thread :) Looking forward to see how it develops! :D

Nice!!!  Looks to be some vintage aged stuff, sounds like your pulling out all the stops on your builds cant wait to see them!  :icon_thumright:

I have a good feeling when it comes to this build! I'm spending as much money as it takes, as long as it gets perfect!
This means a lot to me, and I'm sure it means a lot to my dad! At least I hope so  :icon_thumright:

When I built my Mary Kaye start I did the same sort of thing and got the parts I thought it should have regardless of what it was going to end up costing.  I really only recently finished that guitar, with bakelite pickup covers, and I am quite pleased with it from every perspective.

I would like to thank Willows for such a lovely tribute to Kayrose.

I have become good computer friends with Kay.  She enjoys 50 plus very much.  She knows how to keep the threads interesting and moving.

Thank you Kayrose for all your special words and thank you Willows

It's a month since I placed the order at retrospec. I haven't heard from them nor seen any sign of the parts I ordered. They had the parts in stock when I ordered them, so I'm starting to get slightly angry now. Does it take them over a month to send me parts they have in stock?

If I don't get them in the two next weeks - I want my money back.

Yeah, they are not the best at communicating.  My order just showed up.  It was not horribly late, they might have sent an email in there at one point, but I could be confusing that with the order confirmation.  Oh well, not much to say except the caps and the bakelite PU covers turned out to be very nice, and that they were late with no word from the company.

I think it was about 2.5 weeks.  I ordered with PayPal, so I know the date I ordered it, and I think I found the USPS Click and Ship email.  Kim J LaFleur with Historic Makeovers in Florida.  Seemed longer than that, but there was nothing other than the ship notice, and it didn't say Retrospec Guitar.
