A real 56 Tele and a Relic 55 Tele

Here is a picture of a rare 2-Tone 1956 vintage Fender Tele that I thought you all might enjoy.  It is the real deal and way to valuable to be played out. I finished a Warmoth Tele as a Relic 1955 White Guard so the owner can leave the real one at home and still enjoy the vibe of a vintage piece.  A note of interest on the 56; the wood on the neck is original from the factory which is real rare for Vintage Fenders

I wish you could see this in person, the lacquer checking is perfect and the thing looks like a real old Tele.

That has to be the RAREST '55 in existance; I think they only made a handful of the 'bursts, was that neck a custom order job? I've never seen anything vaguely approaching that on a 50's Fender before, in terms of the maple figuring...

Handpicked by Leo for one of his favorite pickers, maybe? I know in Bill Carson's book he said that they intentionally stayed away from highly figured maple, because once people saw it, that would be all anyone wanted.

Your right Jack, that thing is rare.  I don’t know if it was a custom order and I have seen a few here and there with some real nice wood on the necks but it is unusual.  The guy that owns it spent years talking the original owner into selling it to him.  He was offered double his money the day after he bought it.

Richard your retirement portfolio would do better with the burst.

I am proud that the Warmoth has become his number one guitar; last time I talked to him he said it is all he is using.  I also spoke to other players that have seen him and the guitar in action and they said it sounded killer.

Sorry made a mistake it's a 56.  Here is a great shot of the neck, guard and the control plate off.

Those are both awesome teles! Good job on the relic, and as said above, that is one nice '56!

I was at a local guitar shop in Dallas the other day(Zoo Music) they've been around for a hundred years it seems. Little mom and pop shop, anyway they have an all original '57. Don't know if it was a custom shop order or what, but it has an amazing flamed neck on it. It's an trans amber color with a white pick guard. It's for sale, but I didn't ask how much. Didn't want to know....

What is the rout between the bridge pickup and neck pickup for?  I've seen those before.  Does it serve a function, or is it a necessary part of the construction process, knowing the pickguard will cover it?
It's for the neck pup wires...

did you go to the one on garland and forest or the one on garland and jupiter?

I hate the one on jupiter - such a mess! the guitars must have been stacked up for years! a lot of great guitars, but nothing is priced and half of it is not for sale. if you want to know the price they have to call their boss. and if they can get hold of them they are getting some ridiculous onrealistic price!  :(

It was the on on Garland and Jupiter. Ya that place is cramped for sure. Barely any room to move around..They do have a bunch of old guitars, several old firebirds. And a lot of old silvertones and harmony's....It's kinda like a museum...

That's what I thought, but not all Teles have that.  I guess there's been changes in construction over the years, they hit it at a different angle now when drilling.
