Am I a renaissance man or just getting as old as Methuselah's farts.

I enjoy boating. Any given day, if you give me a choice, I choose a sailboat over a powerboat.
I enjoy flying. Any given day, if you give me choice, I choose a sailplane over a prop or jet.

Now I have re-found a passion for using a fountain pen. I never realized how much more pressure I was using with modern pens and how much emotion I was loosing in pen strokes. I enjoy writing again!

Careful!  Next thing you know you will be lighting the house with coal oil lamps and using a rotary dial telephone!  :laughing11:

I used a FP for a good many years, however over time, I came to strongly prefer digital records just about everywhere. A couple months ago, I ordered a tablet from Remarkable, (about the same money as a Montblanc).

While it's not quite the tactile pleasure of the MB I used to have, and it's certainly not as portable as a pen and small notebook, I'm finding it more productive by a lot. Erasing is easy and if I can't write / sketch in anything but greyscale, color changes with an FP take a good long time. I usually have a small notepad with a Pilot ball pen, definitely more portable, and can be used in places the electronic pad can't. however for years, I've photographed any pages that matter for safekeeping, because I'm also prone to misplacing my notebooks.

About sailing, I introduced my daughters to that before divorce made having a boat impossible and after university, my youngest chose working on research sailing / education boats. She now has far more sea miles under her than I ever will and has USCG mate's papers for up to 400 tons, any ocean.

Well what you describe does not meet the definition of a renaissance man or a modern renaissance man.

It just seems you enjoy things that are more tactile or traditional and there is nothing wrong with that.
