A guitar of tonal discovery, pup route size

I have this idea of building a Guitar of Tonal Discovery (hat tip to @aarontunes ), but I wasn't going to use a strat style body with a universal routing. That of course would be the easy way, and we can't have that! Instead I was looking at one of the bodies that has rear routing for the control cavity. My thought is to have 3 P90 sized cavities for the pups which I might leave as is or route out the remaining wood for one large cavity, but either way I'd cut custom PGs to mount what ever pup combination I was playing with.

My questions to the group are 1) is this totally insane and 2) do you think P90 size is good enough to accommodate single coils, humbuckers, TV Jones's, and P90s and the majority of anything else I'm likely to run across?

Thanks for the input all. Looks like I'll need to do my own universal routing, which is fine. I have a pretty wild idea I'm looking to build, but this is all very helpful.

If it were simply testing, I’d do something like these:

The whole point being ultra quick swaps to some QD solderless type connectors at the jack. I’d want to be able to A/B quickly, possibly with a scope, before jumping into the DAW for a more detailed analysis… cause at the end of the day it’s my ears that need to be happy.
