So... I've been wanting to build a Tele-equivalent to my Mahogany-strat. I build the strat some years ago, and I've been checking the "in stock" at warmoth.com for the right tele-body. And then it happend: The right one popped up on my radar the other night, and was instantly drawn to it.
The strat i'm talking about is entirely made of Mahogany (except for the rosewood fingerboard of course), and the idea behind was to build a Strat from the materials used on many Les Pauls: Mahogany. Turned out perfect, and the mix of strat-crunchy tone and the warmth and sustain of the Mahogany made it sound just as i had predicted and hoped for.
The challenge on the tele was, that i didn't just want to make a 100 % mahogany tele, as i wanted more twang. So... I wanted a darker neck, that matched the body, but the different darker sorts of wood don't really fit that, so i ended up choosing a mapleneck with black finish and rosewood fingerboard. The specs are exactly the same as those on my strat - and i love that neck.
So... This is what the guitar is supposed to end up like. As i said, i've been planning this build for a long time, and the only thing that ended up being changed on my Kisekae-plan was the colour of the headstock. But i find the black headstock and the black pickguard very nice together.
This is the strat i'm talking about:
And these are the parts i ordered.
To be continued... Now for the borring part: Waiting
I'm still missing pickups, but i'll have plenty of time for that, since the parts have to make it from US to EU. Its a pain. And it's expensive! 30 % extra in taxes. Sigh. :icon_scratch:
