7/8th P90 Plank of Possibility

Yes, and I reverse-slanted it to give the higher strings a touch more volume and fatness.
It's going to be running a couple of Kinman's "P90-in-a-strat-package' variants...

Nice idea. It is giving me some inspiration.

The plastic pickguard is an advantage as it isn't difficult to create a 'second-cut' revision if needed.

Still, will have to TRIM about 5mm out of the pickguard to fit the bridge in...

But that still leaves a couple mm of pickguard behind the pickup! :-)
Should look something like this:

Anyway, body, pickguard, and a set of 'contoured heel' screws will be on the way soon. Then I will find out how close my guesses really are! Will this be the canary neck vehicle of my dreams???

I assume you are not intending to use the poplar body shown, as the Schaller mounting screws would not have very far to go before screwing into a trem cavity.

I totally love the empty trem cavity ( weight reduction!). A little hardwood block glued inside can secure protruding bridge mounting screws.

As much as i like a rear-cavity 'no pickguard' for fancy wood tops, my lazy side really enjoys slapping pickups into a pickguard, no fussing with direct mounting to the body...

Awesome mock-up, that will be killer. Is the neck above Canary ?
Yes, Canary with Canary fretboard. This canary was singing an irresistible siren song on the ScreaminDeals page 🌞

I'm going to burnish it as it feels a hint rougher than my previous roasted maple 7/8 neck (which was apparently burnished at the factory as it's super-smooth...)

Here's a question for the hive-mind: this weekend I am suffering from hardware order paralysis!

I was originally thinking all black hardware, and black pickups.
But I can get the pickups in black, white, or cream... and I can get the hardware in black, chrome, or gold...
The body is going to be "natural" as shown (maybe just a tad darker/more amber due to the oil finish).
And the pickguard shown is the one I ordered!

Your opinion on hardware / pickup colors is respectfully solicited... ✨
(I'm going to work on some mockups this weekend)

This is gonna be interesting... Did a little correspondence with the team from Kahler, and a chrome 7330 fixed bridge is now on the way 🌞

And since they have flat rate shipping to Canada, tagged on a black Stringlock Pro for my 7/8 Superstrat (doesn't really need it, but it's stay-in-tune insurance for those rare times when i do go a bit overboard in the whammy department...)

Looking good! If you want a natural yellow-ish/gold look on poplar you might look into treating it with oxalic acid; turns the green to gold-ish. I haven't tried this myself, but I've seen it mentioned on woodworking videos/sites as a way to "pretty up" poplar. Always test on scrap of course.

That Oxalic acid tip looks very interesting! I wonder how an oxalic acid treatment would react with further finishing efforts?
I have been pondering a subtle (or not-so-subtle) dye, followed by a transparent 'water clear' wipe-on poly infused with one of those invisible UV-sensitive additives that make it glow under blacklights... ☄️
