500K Pots Question

Do they make 500K Pots that instead of turning smoothly past each number would stop or "lock" on a certain volume or tone number? then you could turn it and it would "lock" on the next number, etc.

Rotary encoders are generally switches, applied to digital circuits.
Encoder potentiometers are rare.

I just searched Mouser, and all I found were potentiometers with a center detent.

How many positions are desired?

A double pole rotary toggle can be set up with trimmer pots to select from a number of different "fixed" positions.
