Hi all  :icon_biggrin:

This is my 3rd Warmoth build.

Already had this strat body (high grade flame) bought earlier.

Well I just received my Neck the other day & Wow Warmoth excelled again !!  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:  Very happy indeed  :cool01:
Picked off the showcase..
Stratocastoer@, Vintage Modern, Straight 9.5" Radius, Maple (with bonus flame) which couldn't see in showcase.
Ziricote Fretboard, 1 11/16" White Corian Nut, 6150 Frets, Mother of Pearl inlays. Vintage Tint Gloss.

It is a sight to behold, the 'Ziricote Fretboard' .... Looks great & feels superb.

Would have preferred Graph Tech Black Nut & Stainless Steal frets …. But it was like this on the showcase.

Just installed 'Chrome Sperzel Lok Tuners', now this Neck matches very nicely, well I think it does !!

Pickups using in this are …………….Gibson … Dirty Fingers Humbucker (B)
                                        Seymour Duncan … Li'l Sreamin' Demon (M)
                                        Seymour Duncan … Little '59  (N)

Will be doing 3 switches (on / on / on) for 'Seres / Split / Parallel'

Thats about it for now, here some shots of this build….

Others pic's later on.....

Cheers Updown  :blob7:

That all goes together very nicely! I'm a big fan of ziricote, although I don't have it on anything yet. It's too bad you missed out on the stainless frets, but everybody's been playing the nickel-silvers since forever, so that tells you it's not much of a hardship. You can easily replace that nut, though, if the white bothers you. They're not epoxied in or anything like that; you can knock 'em right off and put on a new one.

No shielding for the output jack cavity? :icon_scratch:
An incomplete Faraday Cage defeats the purpose.

Thanks all, Yep really loving this neck.  :icon_biggrin:
Looks tops & very well finished  :icon_thumright:

Sorry pic's taken while still doing shielding ie: incomplete !!
In that last shot is Tremolo wire & grounding wire from pickup cavity only.

The 'White Nut' might fit in Ok I think … Thanks for the heads up on that.

Have to eliminate the pickup holes and pickups as well.

Please explain !! .... Not sure what you mean here @Cagey
I know, I shield the base of pickgaurd which will connect to copper tape connected to ground wire.

Am I missing something ?  besides a brain  :laughing7:  :toothy12:  :laughing11:

Thanks for tips & advice ….

The idea behind shielding is to create a Faraday Cage. The problem is, it is not possible to create a complete enclosure on a guitar, because the pickups are open, and cannot be enclosed in any practical way. Generally you try to make the enclosure as complete as possible, however, by fulling shielding all cavities. Shielding of the actual pickup coils is questionable, as it effects the eddy currents in the coil, changing the tone.

I was just pointing out the pointlessness of shielding the output jack cavity as long as the pickups were still installed. As Line6man pointed out, a Faraday cage with holes in it is about as useful as a submarine with screen doors. The heroic measures you see some guitar/bass players go to shielding the cavities of their instruments is largely a waste of time and material because it can't work. But, it makes them feel better because they're desperate to get rid of that damnable hum. On the plus side, it doesn't hurt anything. Downside is, it costs time and money and doesn't help.

That said, you do want to shield signal lines if you have a quiet source to begin with. Noiseless or "humbucking" pickups are quiet by virtue of their design, so you want to shield the lines coming from them and going to the output jack so they don't pick up anything extraneous. That's where you would use wire(s) like these...

Unfortunately, with single coil pickups there really isn't anything effective you can do. That's why everybody and their brother is busting their humps to design noiseless pickups that sound like single coils. For the most part, they've succeeded, but you'll still get some argument as to how well.

Many thanks guys, Yep understand now.  :icon_thumright:

The 2 builds i've done previously have been rear route. This is my 1st with a pickguard.
I am using pickups that are 4 Conductor & the SD's used in #2 Strat 'The Cigar' were the same (4 Conductor). Quiet as !!
I stuffed up  one screw countersink hole on the pickguard (customising it) so i'll have to wait till another arrives..... Knew I should have got 2
Other wise all is good.

Onward & Forward, as the saying goes...

So this is the Spider!

A mean one! :headbang:
I posted in your other thread before finding the pic... :kewlpics:

So what is #1 called if you have "The Cigar" "The Spider" and "The Eurobird" and are there pics as well?

I'm not trying to be a smarta$$ but if you don't shield the O/P jack cavity and you don't shield the control cavity, why would you bother shielding 2.5" of wire between the two cavities? There's obviously something I'm not gettin'. Just by intuition and not knowing what I'm talking about, I would think it would make sense to shield all the way from the amp to the pickups themselves if you could do it.

Well here is where i'm up to on this one, nearly there, just waiting on a couple of small things to come.

As you can see i've hacked back the pickguard to reveal more of the flame top.  :icon_thumright:
Changed the name of this one to 'The Flame' or 'Flame'.

Body is complete, wired etc, just minus some knobs. Almost there ……
Can't wait to fire this baby up  :guitarplayer2:

It is a gorgeous finish. I think I'd be missing flesh from those mini switches from my playing style.

OK this one is all .... Done  :toothy10:   Finished   :icon_thumright:  Working   :party07:

Just waiting on a Dougie Custom Neckplate .... Couldn't wait any longer, so I put it together.
Name of this has been changed to 'Flame' from original name 'Spider'

Here is a couple of shots, will take some outdoor ones when it finally dries out, outside !!

When I have the custom neck plate on, will take, back of shots.

Will then post completely finished pic's in Strat section of finished Warmoth guitars.

Thanks to all, for your help, tips & advice on this great forum   :rock-on:

Cheers Updown  :blob7:

Thats funny .... I now have the 'Flame' Strat to go with my 'Cigar' Strat  ...... Put them together & they'll light up  :laughing7:

Nice job! I especially like that neck. Kinda busy in the control area, but if you can make it work I'm sure it gives you lotsa options.
