B and G strings bend out of tune easily - what should I do?

90% it's the nut. Does it go "ping"? Nut. The thing is, strings need to sit loosely in the slot and be held down by tension from behind the nut (neck angle or string trees), and be free to move freely (look at any non-fender stringed instrument of any type!). OR, they need to be locked down IN...

How much do YOU spend on Warmoth???

My most expensive was maybe $1200, that's an exotic neck and finished body, boutique pickups and a fret levelling / edge radius job from a pro. Least expensive was about $600, that was a "deals" raw poplar body and maple neck (which I still have and is an excellent neck), basic hardware and...

Replacement neck for 80s St. Blues P-bass

I'd probably recommend you build a full Warmoth bass if you're sure by now that you know specifically what you want in terms of tone, specs, weight, and looks. But yeah, don't buy a W neck until you've done the measurements for compatibility yourself or by a trusted tech.

    Do I Expect Too Much?

You do seem a little bit butthurt, man. FWIW, IMHOP.

    Anyone switch necks routinely

Just tune down 1/2 step and capo 1 if you really need a 24.75 feel. Far easier than swapping necks. Won't comment on the relationship dynamic though I'm tempted. :)

    Settling in time?

Yep! Tuning issues are almost always too narrow nut slots or a trem not returning true. Glad you fixed it.

    PRS Kool-Aid!!!!!

There are SO MANY ways to spend over 2 grand on a guitar, guys. The fact that W makes it possible to spend 2 grand on one of theirs is not that big a deal. Fact is, you can still build a W for $800 with good pickups and hardware, probably the ONLY sub - 1k American made guitar you can do.

Not seeing a lot of love for Canary/Rosewood?

I have a canary / Pao Ferro neck that is my favorite neck ever on my favorite guitar. Expect a bright tone along the lines of maple but also know that the double truss rod construction will have an effect as will the shorter scale length. Wood species is just one variable among many, and...

    Settling in time?

The Gotoh sg38s are an excellent tuner that I have used many times and will use again. They are very solid and reliable. Widen your nut slots, young man.

    Settling in time?

Almost all tuning problems are caused by too-tight nut slots, assuming you know how to string it up and to set your trem. Do you ever hear a "ping" or tick as you tune upwards? That's the string sticking in the slot and releasing. A graphite nut can still be too tight, grabbing the strings along...

Not Good News: Fender shutting down Hamer.

Hamer made a great product, no doubt. Sad news.

    Roadhouse Pickups

Ken's stuff sounds great, is solidly made from quality parts, well packaged, and ace customer service to boot.

OH I IS DIED AN' GWAN TO TELE BRIDGE-FIXIN HEAVEN!

Of course, nobody has mentioned the fact the nut end has the same "issue" of vibration transference / damping. Which nobody is proposing to solve, I take it. Nor the fact that ALL of the worlds finest classical string instruments have bridges carved of a simple piece of hardwood and simply set...

    Which CD-R's suck?

I know what you're saying. I went to a non-computer recording setup (Boss BR600) so that I could spend more time playing and less on the computer. But for trading music (and lyrics, chords, sheet music) around the band? Dropbox (or similar, but I think dropbox works best) saves time and...

    Which CD-R's suck?

If it will play in SOMETHING, but not in your Toyota, then your car's cd player is the problem. A different brand of CD is unlikely to help. This may not work for you, but I've just about totally given up on cds for everything. Dropbox is a super convenient and free way to share files...
