Telecaster sized p-90 bridge pickups, any opinions experience?

Seymour Duncan just came out with a P-90 bridge pickup in Tele form... available for pre-order...

    Warmoth 40 Year History Video

Being local to the area, I feel fortunate to have witnessed, and to have been personally involved thru much of this history. That original shop in Puyallup was a mystical place for me, as I ventured out there many times just to rummage through the seconds bin. Later on, I ended up working for a...

    Ahhhhh....the 80's

It's a model 1888... sort of a re-issue on the 88. Oh I did my time with that... but was fortunate enough to realize the euphoria was never as good as that first line, and to do more is just chasing that feeling. So it never became a problem. Tried smoking it *once*... not for me! It threw...

    Ahhhhh....the 80's

Totally with you on that, BTW. So much that I HAD to pick up one of these exactly 2 years ago. It came with Super Distortions in the bridge AND neck (!). I couldn't hang with that for a neck pickup... let alone at the bridge (too dark sounding with the mahogany body and also slanted), so swapped...

    Ahhhhh....the 80's

Myself... circa 1988. Incidentally... blowing up Jerry Cantrell's Randall @ The Renton Musician's Hall. We played a lot of shows with them ("Diamond Lie" at the time, later AiC) and we often used each other's gear. Unfortunately... yes I did actually blow one of the speakers in his Randall 2x12...

    1 3/4 on a tele?

This is my tele with a 1-3/4 neck... heel spacing is perfectly fine:

    Warmoth's 1-3/4" nut string spacing

You can pretty much have the string spacing anywhere you want it if you cut your own nut (or have someone else do it). Some folks (myself included) like a wider neck with narrower string spacing, so the end strings are farther away from the edge of the fretboard. Warren DeMartini did this to the...

I think I finally found the sound I've been looking for...Firebird pickups

I went with a Klein Firebird in my tele build, and it is my absolute favorite pickup for the neck position (I have yet to try one at the bridge). Klein makes it vintage spec at 6.1k. Glassiest tones ever from a humbucker:

    EVH 5150III 50w heads - EL34 & 6L6

I just picked up one of these, and it is amazing. I too, am an 80's rock guy, and this thing to me is the ultimate. Way more gain than you would ever need (I haven't felt the need to move the gain past 11 o' clock), plus amazing cleans. Fender-y cleans to Marshall crunch to 5150 style high-gain...

Are there any alternatives to Warmoth Superwide?

Well Warren DeMartini's early Charvels had 1-7/8" nut width or close to it... but had a standard neck heel. As the widest Floyd nut is 1-3/4", there was quite a bit of overhang left, so that didn't matter. But really... I don't see why the heel would need to be wider anyway? It's not like the...

Second body build.. Sapele and Flame Top body. CATASTROPHE!!

Yeah. As you're discovering... a router is probably not the best tool for cutting out the full-thickness body shape?? Aeons ago when I last built a body from scratch, I used a bandsaw for the basic shape, then various sanders for final shaping (disc, cylinder, etc.). Then used a hand router for...
