    FS: 2008 Wenge/rosewood chambered strat

Hi all, I unfortunately need to sell Raw, unfinished Wenge body and neck, Rosewood top and Macassar Ebony fretboard (no fret dots). Chambered strat body with '59 roundback neck contour and Warmoth peghead. Recessed tune-o-matic bridge with string-saver saddles. Locking tuning pegs. Compensating...

    Custom neckplate

Hey Dangerous... forget the truss rod cover, I'm making one out of rosewood. Thanks anyway!!  :toothy10:

hard Ash body, Airline reissue "valco" pickups, 300k pots and 33mf tone cap

I say wire it up with the components you have, and see if you like it. The 300k / 0.033uf combo is kind of middle of the road and might just be perfect, but you'll have to try it and see  :toothy10:

What electronics rig and which brands?

Blender pot is cool on a strat. I would use the paper in oil cap - I might not bother paying extra for it, but you got it for free. As long as the pots are good quality, 250k audio taper you'll be rockin. Dunno if the solder makes any difference in the real world - I'm skeptical of that. Here...

    wenge strat underway

Hey, thanks guys. Yeah most the hardware is black, I'll prolly use these rosewood barrel knobs, but the bridge, tuners, strap pins, switches all black. Deal with it!  :laughing7: Still debating a couple of mini toggles for extra coil splitting options. Left room for them at the back, but will...

    wenge strat underway

It is actually not that heavy, the body weighed in at 4.6lbs, the neck 1.5lbs. Before the (PW = planet waves) tuners went on it was really nicely balanced, now it's a little less so -- we'll see when the rest of the hardware goes on how it is.

    wenge strat underway

Woods arrived last Friday, got some things done with only a few minor glitches so far. Spent almost a whole day drilling the control holes, but they turned out perfect... So far so good. And took some pics finally too. Was surprised how much weight the PW tuners added to the neck, after those...

    Quick ground/shield question (or three...)

Soldered to your volume pot (or wherever your common ground point is). One is probably enough, as long as there is contact between the shielding on the pickguard and inside the cavity, you should be fine. Maybe try a guitar string??

    My LPS

Nice one!  I don't know about your friend; that is one of the most gorgeous finishes I have ever seen. Amber knobs, methinks... :glasses9:

    tune o matic/stoptail placement

Re: Pinch Harmonics I may be stating the obvious, but the type of pick you use probably matters more than scale length or pickup placement etc. Pinch harmonics fly off my acoustic guitar using dunlup ultex jazz III picks. These are my favorite picks now, until I find something better. Although...

    Frankenstrat

If you can find something you like on the showcase it will save you at least a month of waiting. http://www.warmoth.com/showcase/sc_guitar_bodies.cfm?type=guitar&menuItem=8 Or else watch for an unpainted one, and do your own paint... You also have to think about fret size/type, tuners...

    Need Help with Amp Choice

I agree, this is a good all-rounder, in music college there was one of these in every room (and roland jazz choruses in the practice cells). It'll keep you going for quite a while, I think.

    How is it still there?!

This hasn't been up for that long, but I gawk at it for a bit whenever I'm on the showcase. I would do it with clear gloss, black or chrome hardware... maybe a wenge/ebony neck, or pao ferro... hipshot trem... I'd love to do a build with single coils, but not for a while... doubt it will still...
