Black to clear seems to work really well on the woods that you'd otherwise want just clear on - especially the BK with orange stripes. Gives it a little more depth than the typical clear coat.

Sounds like you just want this: Assuming the switch you have is normal DPDT On-On, which works like the one in the top left here: If you have a multimeter, you can put it on the continuity setting and check which terminals are connected in which switch positions.

Yeah I wasn't sure if it would be too busy or take attention away from the body, but I think with the plain fretboard and no inlays it works out perfectly.

Not sure I'm a huge fan of them completely clean, but put a little dirt on them and they're absolutely perfect. And that's really why I picked 'em - this isn't for playing jazz.
