I have long wondered the same thing! I just want a simple plate with an engraved "W" and maybe "Made in U.S.A." or similar below it. Classy and simple.
Thanks!
The Iceman is growing in popularity, but I don't know how many users actually post their builds here.
A lot of the threads linked to in the Google search above (which I've already done myself) are several years old now.
I imagine there are some cool or interesting builds that haven't...
Yeah, shame on me for hoping fellow members might share their builds in an updated and consolidated thread on the topic, lol.
I'll be sure to just link to a Google search anytime someone has a question or makes a request on this site!
It's a no-go according to the first customer service rep I spoke with. He suggested it's because the Meadowhawk necks are not built to "Fender specs", which I think is a pretty lame excuse, but I'm pretty used to getting "NO" as an answer to most of my requests to Warmoth, LOL!
EDIT: Another...
I agree, Warmoth really needs to offer a clean, modern 3x3 headstock like the Meadowhawk's as a standard option.
The Snakehead is hideous and far too niche. The "Warmoth" and "Vortex" shapes are practically the same, although the "Warmoth" shape suffers from looking a bit stubby and truncated...
4 Things:
1) Fender-style contoured heel (this option is waaaaaaay overdue!)
2) Modern forearm contour on Iceman body shape (as another user mentioned above)
3) Ibanez/Iceman-inspired headstock shape (seriously, how can you offer the correct body, but no decent headstock options?)
4)...
It bothers me that Warmoth offers the "Iceman" body shape, but no corresponding Ibanez-esque headstock shape to pair it with!
Looking at their standard offerings, I can't seem to find a headstock shape that pairs well with the Iceman's unique look.
What headstocks are other people using with...
I wish Warmoth offered the big '70s headstock on their Baritone scale necks. Drives me absolutely crazy that they won't budge on this :/
That said, you got some beautiful pieces there, OP! Can't wait to see that all together! \m/
Looking at the two bridge diagrams above, are the string holes indeed closer on the humbucker bridge plate?
If so, will that cause an issue on a body routed for a stock Tele string spacing? It's about 1.5mm difference in width overall, but only 0.3mm per hole. Does it matter?
Wow!
I'm surprised the two Gotoh bridges are so different, but I guess it makes sense. Wishful thinking on my part, ha ha!
That pretty much answers my question(s)!
Seriously, I appreciate the help from each of you and hopefully this info might help clarify things for others, as well :)
I was interested in the recessed Wilkinson when I first heard about it, but I came to realize it really isn't much of an upgrade in real-world use.
Some guys do custom routs, like the one you're imagining, that work well to set the bridge lower in the body, but all of the Warmoth examples...
