    Buzz - Schaller Bridge

Copper tape is commonly used to ground single-coil guitars like Tele and Strat. So, I suppose the adhesive has no effect.

    Buzz - Schaller Bridge

I am building a Tele with dual humbuckers, rear route, LP controls. I have installed/wired pots, toggle switch, bridge, jack, and jack plate. Pups are installed but not wired. All connections and wiring check out with meter but I still have noise. Wondering if I grounded the Schaller 475...

    Building a Tele....need PUP suggestions

I built a Tele last year and was in the same situation - so many pups to choose from. I finally decided on the Fralin Blues Special and I am really happy with the set. Very well balanced. Bridge is not a vintage Tele twangy sound, which is one of the reasons I chose them. Pricy, yes, but I felt...

    Humbucker Decision fro New Build

I saw a demo of the Shur and I liked the sound, I also like the Fralin Pure PAF, but they are a bit more costly.

    Humbucker Decision fro New Build

Thanks. So ,many pickups, so little time.

    Humbucker Decision fro New Build

Thanks, I'll take a look. Why do you like the Shur?

    Humbucker Decision fro New Build

Yes, pure PAF. I have thought of the SD Seth Lovers as well as the SD Pearly Gates. When I put in my info on the SD pup selector (more versatility) I get PRails, Jazz/SD, and 59/Custom 5. I get confused quickly.

    Humbucker Decision fro New Build

Last year I built my first guitar, a Tele, with Fralin Blues Special pups. I really like the playability of the guitar and the Fralin pups are very well balanced - not a vintage Tele sound, but I like them a lot. So, this year I am planning to build a 2 humbucker guitar: mahogany Tele body with...

    Tele Setup

I have read reviews where people have told of the need to level frets on a Warmoth neck. I had some buzz after my initial setup. Plus, a Warmoth customer service rep told me it might be necessary. After I wrote my original post I put on 10-gage strings (I initially had put on 9-gage) and did...

    Tele Setup

Just finished my tele build. Looks like I will need to level the frets - don't think I want to do this myself. Neck and body quality is very good. A question: should I use the Fender setup guidelines or does the Warmoth neck/body need something different?

Tru-Oil vs Wudtone for Maple Neck

Yes, I've noticed the same. Pricey for what you get. Think I may stay with the Tru-Oil. Easy to use and it should give me enough color with the Minwax color I'm using on the body.

Tru-Oil vs Wudtone for Maple Neck

I've ordered a plain maple neck for my tele build. I had planned on using Tru-Oil, but I have been informed the neck warranty is void if I use an oil based finish. This may also be true of Wudtone. I read another thread where many have had good results with Tru-Oil. So, does anyone feel there...

    Tele Pickup Decision

My first thought was to go with Fender or SD pups. If I wanted to change later they might have some re-sale value. Even some of those are probably more than I should spend given this is my first attempt.

    Tele Pickup Decision

I'm building a Warmoth tele. Deciding on pickups is harder than I thought. So many on the market with good reviews - everyone has their favs. Hearing demos on videos is somewhat helpful. I play mostly rock (oldies & classic) and blues. I thought I might want the Fender Texas Specials but I like...
