New J-Bass : blue dyed quilted maple on alder and ziricote on flame maple

Hi guys, One can't really see it in the previous picture but here's a zoom of the heel on the bass and treble sides : heel doesn't fit tight (no effort at all to put the neck into his pocket) Though, the neck heel spec is ok : 2 1/2 inches wide on my calliper (~63,75mm) Is this acceptable ...

Buzz at a certain area of the fretboard (help and feedback greatly appreciated!)

There's a cheap and easy way to check your frets  : use a credit card as a fret rocker, I did it and actually, it works fine (a real pro fret rocker confirmed the fret issue) Lay an edge on 3 consecutive frets, try to rock it, if it doesn't move, those 3 frets are in the same plane meaning it's...

New J-Bass : blue dyed quilted maple on alder and ziricote on flame maple

Fret #3... Shiny area are located UNDER the strings, dull area BETWEEN the strings. The caliper shows : between 0.050" and 0.055 on the dull part. higher than 0.055" on the shiny part. There's not much difference, but it's there and I can feel it with my finger. Since I can't see anything...

New J-Bass : blue dyed quilted maple on alder and ziricote on flame maple

After almost 3 years and playing often : Fret (gold ones) wear clearly visible (after having polished them) up to the 9th fret (approx.). When I slide my finger on them, I can easily feel it's not straight anymore. Frets are only slightly worn NOT under the strings but BETWEEN the strings...

Great, now I have to build a bass

Is the truss rod completely loose or slightly tightened ? In other words, what's the best way to keep an neck in a good condition FOR YEARS when off the guitar ?

Indeed, recovering from it isn't easy, sandpaper and elbow oil... But I did it after having sanded (180, then 400) an old coated neck that was terrible (black marks from sweat, hits, well you can imagine a 1986 neck almost never cleaned...)  and it's not that oily, just a wee bit and it slides...
