Working on getting some plans together for a VIP build. Going to be mahogany with flamed maple cap (quilt isthrough the roof for carved tops).
So what finish is it that I want? You tell me. Not sure if this is trans or dye. All the yellow dyes I see seem to have a dark border (ala sunburst) This is what I want it lo look like:

Peghead will have flamed maple veneer and finished the same as the body. Hardware will be gold.

Curious your thoughts on position markers? Board will be Braz rosewood. Initial thoughts were MOP dots. Now giving thoughts to traps. Maybe call Warmoth about the yellow/gold traps (or even dots?) that I see in the showcase?

Your thoughts?

Fire away!

Oh and I should add, I am doing a natural mask binding on it.

I am thinking this finish in Warmoth terms is more yellow than vintage or amber.

I was just A-B'ing your pics with the examples on the Warmoth site. The amber is too orange, and the yellow is too yellow. You pics are more golden. That's gonna be a tough one.

That looks like Santana Yellow...hmm might be a tough match.  Might want to call them and ask.  Otherwise someone like Tonar or CB might have a line on a dye combo

look at my lefty Moderne in misc. guitars, it's Warmoth yellow dye.

Hmm If Warmoth yellow dye is close or the same as PRS Santana yellow...I just added a new color to my list of builds.

Yep, I've got an amber dye Jazz master and it is way more orange than what you are looking for. Yellow is definitely the way to go.

I think it depends on how the colours take to the wood. I have seen amber dyes very close to the colours the OP wants, but then again I have also seen them very orangey in colour too.

Maybe just a clear finish with vintage tint?

If you look in the showcase, and filter just a certain color dye,(Blue,Yellow, Whatever) you'll notice some variation in color alone, between 2 offerings side by side, with both having the same species wood. Just to say that . . . some people are chasing a wild goose when wanting something exact
expect some variation.
