Writing on the guitar

how bout:

Mind Tool
Go Green
Ambiguous Genitalia
Kilroy was here
you can have my guitar when you pry it from my cold dead hands

I do love "Live Free or Die", but i don't want people to think of John McClane when they read it.  As for "F*ck it"... sure it's funny, but it doesn't do anything.

So far my favorite one is, "There is no fear in music".  I think that sends a message.  i think i like it better as "No Fear in Music" though.  but something like that is definitely what i'm looking for.

still searching...

and thanks to all who are helping.  each quote, even if totally irrelevant, helps me figure out what flows, what works, what says a lot in so little.
and it really doesn't have to be a famous quote either.  it could even be "Just Do It" or something.

Some random ones that I personally might write in some form or another...

"...so just shut your face and take your seat!  'Cause after all you're just talking meat!  And music?  Well, it's just entertainment, folks!"  - Devin Townsend

"Cold carbon copy coping" "Paint Pastel Princess" - Daniel Johns

"We are the losers of all that we know!  F*** us all!" - Strapping Young Lad

"Have a Cigar"  "Welcome to the Machine" or "Which one's Pink?"  - Pink Floyd

"Try to figure me out" - Kurt Cobain

"I want my rock stars dead!" - Bill Hicks

These are quite profound as well; from the Great Communicator himself:

"The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

"Of the four wars in my lifetime, none came about because the U.S. was too strong."

"Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."

Of course, I would go with something like:

"Tom Morello is a rich, whiny, socialist douchebag punk who lived the easy life in the suburbs, makes lots of money now and feels all guilty about it, so he shills his BS political statements in a vain attempt to have an actual purpose in life and a vain attempt to give himself "street cred"."  :toothy12:

What made you so hateful?

I strongly recommend you don't walk down the path of that self-important, self-styled "robin hood" twat.

Just another rich punk who had it easy - feeling all guilty about their fortunes, and making a big huge political thing out of it.

But hey - if you can't smell the pure, unadulterated BS coming from Morello, then I can't help ya.

"PLAY LOUD"

personally I would go for something a bit more intelligent, like "I REALLY LIKE BOOBS"

Pure brilliance.  *thumbs up*

Actually, I'm groovin on "PLAY LOUD".  Nothing says rock and roll better than that.

i'd rather not have this turn into a debate about politics.  i'm just looking to spread a message.  now i may not agree with Morello's politics, or i may.  it doesn't matter.  i'm inspired by his music.  whether he's rich, poor, full of guilt, or a "twat" doesn't matter to me.  and there are plenty of rich musicians who don't care about the lower class... so why is it worse when there is one who does?

I'm smelling some BS right now, and Morello isn't even on this board.

Superlizard, you should pack your bags for Saudi Arabia if you want to live in a right-wing country, because America is moving on, with or without you.  Besides, this board is not the place to fight the culture war.

Speaking of moving on...

Here's one from Rage: "If ignorance is bliss, knock the smile off my face."  Always liked that one  :guitaristgif:

I think I'll go over to the suggestion box and ask for an "Ignore List".

:tard:

(normally, I could care less - but this board frowns on any politically-charged threads started)

my message isn't political at all.  just drop the politics on this thread.  i'll gladly debate on any other forum.

"PLAY LOUD"

AAaand you HAVE to put it in capital letters or else the message won't be clear enough.

Mindtool,  I have to say, it strikes me as a little odd when someone is saying they just want to spread a message, but they are asking others what that message should be.  Believe in something first, then spread the message.
