Would a Tele® Custom Pickguard fit on a Squier Tele Deluxe?

I was looking at these pickguards:

http://www.warmoth.com/Pickguard/TeleCustomPickguard.aspx

Would this fit on one of those Squier Deluxe Custom 72 Telecasters?  I know the website said they wouldn't, but I figured that was only so they could sell more guitars or something.

It's more trying to avoid saying it will fit.

Not sure if it will fit, but it would be a bad investment to buy a guitar to fit your pickguard :P Has anyone here done that?

Well I was going to buy the guitar anyways, but I wanted to add some color to it afterwards.  Thinking of the black Tele with the blue pickguard.

That's not very logical reasoning to me.

Specs on pickguards can be all over the place from model to model, even from different years of the same model. There really is no "one size fits all" in the world of pickguard specs.
Isn't it alot better to be forewarned that it may not fit, than to order a pickguard and figure out the hard way...

You do have a 10 day return policy though, as long as you don't remove the film or modify it.

The holes might not line up properly, but I'm sure you could modify it into something perfectly serviceable.

I don't know why people are put off by mismatched hole patterns, because it's so easy to drill new holes, but actually, i would be more concerned about the neck pocket matching the neck width. My Squier VMJ Bass had a neck that was about a 16th inch wider than a standard Fender.

If a neck pocket is too wide, you are left with a gap.
If it's too tight, you have to sand the pickguard to size.
IME, this is not an easy task, because pickguards tend to melt from the friction of sanding. That's why they are cut with high speed routers.
