I plan to make an electric 12 strings guitar. For body wood, I think I'll use Mahogany core with Bubinga Top. But for the neck I hesitate between several woods :

- Wenge, Mahogany or koa for neck back
- Indian rosewood, Kingwood or Bubinga for fingerboard

I'm looking for a warm tone, great sustain and good midrange

My first idea was Wenge neck back with Kingwood fingerboard.

There's a lot of combinaisons.... :tard: :icon_scratch:

All ideas, experiences, advice are welcome....  :)

Thanks,

G.

I don't think you can get a koa neck and mahogany is boring. Get Wenge!

As cool as some of those fingerboards are, I'd suggest Zircote. Looks killer that stuff.  :toothy11:

Go for Wenge. It's the coolest wood on the planet. As for the board, consider ebony - classy, matches well with the wenge, smooth and hard as rocks.

I've been thinking about this in the background for a little while.  For me, I'm considering plane old maple/rosewood for one reason - weight.  I don't want it to be neck heavy, and 12 tuners waaaaay out there is a lot of rotational force
