I was pretty successful with tung oiling my ash Strat.
I'm going to start a new project maybe with a trans color. Can I use the Lowe's Wipe On Poly clear and maybe add a dye color? Haven't seen any wipe on color products. I'm sure I would need detailed mixing directions if the answer is yes.

Many of the dyes available today are "universal". That is, they don't care what you mix them into. Transtint comes to mind, and is widely available.

As for mixing instructions, I'm not aware of any. You just mix it into whatever you want to change the color of. Small amounts. A little goes a long way. Get some scrap wood similar to what you're planning on coloring, and use it to test your results as you go. Keep in mind the underlying color will affect the end result.
