Will R3 nut fit a Warmoth neck routed for R5 (1-3/4)

I have a Warmoth 1-3/4 neck that has a Floyd Rose R5 nut. I find it a bit too wide for me so I want to replace it with an R3. Is there a difference in mounting hole widths between R5 and R3 nuts? Are they interchangable?

R3 is 1.6mm narrower than R5, assuming yours is a German made one.
Floyd Rose Nut Chart from their website.
It doesn't make any mention about mounting spacing though. I only own 1, so I can't compare mine to another.

Its an original Floyd Rose that I ordered from Warmoth. Came with the nut and everything. There is a Schaller technical drawing on Schaller website that says R5 has a 15.2mm mounting screw spacing. The R3 in the same drawing is 14.2mm. This would make it unfit for my neck. Does anyone have any experience in this? I dont have one for comparison.

Is it also the neck that's too wide ?

I'm not sure what you mean about the nut being too wide, could you elaborate ?

Also the R3 is meant for a 12" radius unlike the R5 which is for 10" like the R4.

I like the wide neck. Its also a fat back.

What I mean by the nut being too wide is the string spacing is too wide. I want to try a narrower string spacing. R4 or R3, aslong as its narrower than R5. I cant find any information on any technical drawing or any forums on the mounting screw spacings.

The neck is a 10-16 compound radius. Arent all Floyd Rose original locking nuts are 10 radius?

I emailed them already and awaiting for response. I was hoping someone here could also help me. Unofficial Warmoth is a great forum and Ive solved lots of guitar problems by reading posts here.

I recall seeing similar questions about Floyd Rose nuts and their specs here before, but I don't believe definitive answers have been posted.
A more thorough spec chart would be nice, with additional info like screw spacing and so on.

If you do hear from the people at Floyd Rose, please share for future reference.  :icon_thumright:

No that's why I wrote about the difference. Here's a link from FRs site to their sizing chart.

The worst case scenario is to buy another nut and try it. It might be tweakable or not. Perhaps a 1 11/16 fatback neck may work for you but then thats another neck.

I have seen that chart. It does not show the mounting screw spacing.

All original Floyd Rose nuts and bridges are 10 radius. This diagram also shows that R3 and R5 are both 10 radius. If R3 fits my R5 routed 45mm wide neck then I wont need to get a new neck  :icon_thumright:

Please look at that chart it clearly shows the R3 radius is 12" and the R10 is 15".

So no not all OFR nuts are 10" radius.

And no it doesn't show the mounting spacing. But one thing to consider is that the shelf depth between the R5 and the R3 differs.

Of course its your guitar and you can of course buy whatever nut you want and try it. I doubt anyone else will have attempted it.

Or is the username with 88 at the end a hint you are trolling.

Took a closer look and R3 is 12 radius älright so I stand corrected. This makes R3 ruled out for my neck so I better go for the R4 now.

Troll? Ill let you figure out the 88 at the end of my name by yourself. Ill give you a hint tho, its got something to do with the year of my birth  :icon_thumright:
