Wilkinson Scimitar 6 (Schizoid Musiclander)

Wow. Can't believe this has been sitting on the bench for over 2 months waiting for wiring v.2 while I faff about with the next build. Anyway, re-wired with a CTS pull/push as the standard one I had seemed particularly crappy.

Q: Is it a better (neater) job? A: Nope! Works ok and fits into the body, so job done.

I like this lens more than I like my cable dressing.

Really wish I'd sorted this sooner because once bolted to the body it's just a about the weirdest/coolest thing ever! (Self-indulgent, me?)

Hopefully I'll get the other plate wired up today and put the thing together!...

That metal bar running through the pickup wires in the first picture above is a short to ground just waiting to happen. Is that a temporary wiring aid, or what?

Hmm, not sure what you're referring to. No metal bars - there's the shielded return from the toggle to the volume (left) pot - clearest above the cap - which I think is safe. If it's the vertical part immediately to the right of the left pot, that's actually the little pcb that's attached to the pot.

Oh, I see it now. It was the camera angle fooling me. The edge of the PC board looked like a metal rod running behind those wires, touching the signal tab on the pot, then nearly touching the the copper shielding.

Both plates now wired up. Here's a sneak preview of the less evil twin:

The neck's on now - strings too. Just the strap buttons to do (when I decide where to put them). Hopefully I'll get it finished up shortly and post some proper pictures.

I like how you aren't afraud to stray far from what isconsidered  "normal" with your builds! This is looking great so far, excited to see the finished product. :rock-on:

Looking great! I like the Musiclander with a pickguard, both versions. Looking forward to the completed pics.

Thanks Frank and Tony!

No good reason for this one stalling. I need to rewire the P90 'guard due to a 'fitting issue' and obviously can't take pictures and call it finished while its non-visible parts aren't 100%.

The SCs are The Creamery's take on Burns Tri-Sonics in a standard Strat size. This version was always the secondary/alternative set-up, with the P90s being the standard. Turns out the black one looks better.

Of course the real reason this one's not finished is that the Barracuda (baritone soloist) is currently taking up all my guitar-building attention. As a pile of parts for that just arrived I guess this one will probably continue to be neglected - at least until the other one is also almost finished.

'Tis the season for revisiting my old threads...

This one's different from the Barracuda, though; that one had been dormant but this one has been undergoing 11 months of solid work. In all that time barely a second has passed when I have not been researching, measuring, pondering and several other ings, about exactly where the strap buttons should be.

Today I ignored all that, just drilled a couple of holes and screwed the suckers in.

I trust you'll all agree that all the hard work was worth it.

Silly as it may seem, this actually was all that was left to do - I just hadn't got round to it. Plus, I do like to sit down these days.

Anyway, it's all done now. I'll get some pics up in the gallery shortly...

There comes a time during the life of every project where it becomes necessary to shoot the engineer and get on with production  :laughing7:

That's a beauty!
