Why don't they make a Goncalo Alves Vintage/Modern neck as a 1 piece?

As I was doing research on various neck woods I noticed that you can't order a custom build 1 piece vintage /modern neck made in Goncalo Alves. In the In Stock  bin there are Goncalo Alves necks in Vintage/Modern style made as 1 piece and some as 2 piece so why can't it be ordered as a custom build? Why are some of the In Stock made in 2 piece? Is it a better pattern when made as a 2 piece?

While on this topic I don't understand what the waxy feel of this wood means? Does it feel as good as roasted maple? Does it lose the waxy feel after being burnished? After playing a Goncalo neck do your fingers feel coated in wax and need to be washed? I like the wood pattern of Goncalo  but don't like the idea of a waxy feel.

No, that's the fried chicken place around the corner from the upholstery shop. :icon_biggrin:

It feels like the thinnest satin finish. I prefer how it feels compared to Wenge, the other unfinished neck I have. It has smaller pores and I have only used a dry cloth on it, I assume the sealer Warmoth used is long gone. Wenge has bigger pores and needs treatment more often. My tech put the first time oil and then wax, I didn't like the waxy feeling, it was sticky. Next time I put only oil and it was much better, Goncalo feels great with no treatment so far.

I have both necks for ten years, they had only home use so far. If they were gigged weekly they would probably need different treatment with all the dust, smoke and sweat they'd had.

Don't try to apply logic to the builder vs the showcase. It will never work.  :glasses9:

You will see all kinds of things in the showcase that don't exist in the builders. That's because it's kind of a playground for us, where we can try unusual combinations of woods, experiment with crazy paint schemes, test oddball options, use wood species that are only available in limited supply, etc. If something doesn't turn out like we expected, we don't have a disappointed customer on our hands.

OTOH, the stuff that is available in the builder is time-tested, reliable, dependable stuff, that we know we have a reliable supply of.
