Granted, I haven't checked out any Warmoth carved tops in a LOOOONG time, but my spec spreadsheet has a basic mahogany/swamp ash carved top coming in at $305.00 with AA flame maple top.  When did the price jump 200+ dollars???  I had wanted to assemble another VIP (hollow w/ F holes), but now it's looking like that's not going to happen.  Bummer...

When you compare their prices and the features you get vs. of the shelf guitars there is no comparison. They are still the least expensive thing around. Save your money - you won't be disappointed.

At the same time, average prices for nice finished showcase pieces have been coming down quite a bit, and the screamin deals section has got more and more high quality pieces. The price increase coincided with the worst economy in 100 years, it looks like they're making amends by discounting showcase pieces quite a bit. This one for instance is pretty much the old pricing since it's got quilt, dye, and binding: http://www.warmoth.com/Showcase/ShowcaseItem.aspx?i=vipp141&Body=2&Path=Body

Well dang, it's just like the time I had planned to build a Koa VIP (back when it was the same price as Black Korina), I built my purple Strat first, and before I could save up enough for the body, the price of Koa went through the roof, and good flamed koa pieces when the way of the dinosaur.  It sucks, but you live and learn I guess...
