Lol, I'm not refinishing it or replacing it. I've spent 15+ years relicing that mofo, and it sounds amazing. How can you not love the simplistic awesome ugliness of purple metallic beat to fook with canary and ugly streaked ebony? It's one of those rare guitars that just feels right, like it was designed with those components by the FSM itself. To be honest, my main concern is that the world will implode if i put a p90 in the neck... perfection just may cause existence to cease.
I see. Well, I'm not sure the world would implode, but I can't imagine being happy with a P90 in any position, so I'd say skip it. To my ear, they're just noisy bitches with poor frequency response. But, that's just me. Also not a fan of streaked Ebony, but again, that's just me. I'm sure it's a great wood, but the appearance puts me off. Looks defective, or like some sort of compromise. Y'know - like a Wal-Mart version of real Ebony. To me, Ebony should be black and as dense/smooth as polycarbonate plastic, only harder. If someone wants visible grain, get some Pau Ferro, Ziricote or Kingwood. They're all very dense and smooth, with a much better natural appearance. Kingwood especially seems to have been touched by His Noodly Appendage.
