What would be required albums if there were such a class called Rock: 101

When it comes to Rock or Hard/Classic Rock, and without trying to list my personal favorites:

Paranoid
LZ IV
Who's Next
Rainbow Rising
Black Rose (or maybe live and Dangerous)
Machine Head
The Wall
Billion Dollar Babies
Sheer Heart Attack
Blizzard of Ozz

Or in other words, 70s (and early 80s) Records that are the basis of all modern rock and metal..
And before that, there were the Beatles :)

No love for the kinks?  not much for the stones, either?  I don't think you can teach Rock 101 without a lot more than five albums, is all I'm saying.  To say nothing of Dylan and all who covered his work, Creedence, the Byrds....

If you're taking 5 albums to teach a rock 101 class i'd go chronologically.

Muddy Waters- The Best of Muddy Waters

A Beatles record.

Jimi Hendrix- Bold as Love

Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin

Appetite for Destruction- Guns N Roses

I think the Stones, and CCR among what you said is important too.  I would even suggest a little Skynard as well, but you can only do so much with 5 albums, maybe it would be better to hand pick 30 songs and let the students decide which 10 they want to work on for homework. :guitaristgif:  If I were teaching the class, they would have Grunge day.

Okay sorry for the hijack, but as long as the subject of fonts is popping up...

I don't understand Papyrus hate.  Comic Sans, yes because it's the font that people use when they're typing up something incredibly lame that they want to seem not lame (like the horrible cafeteria menu in Jr. High, or some sign in the doctor's office about immunizations).  But Papyrus?  Why?  It's at least graceful looking.

And I don't understand why anyone would be obsessed with Helvetica.

Okay there's my rant.  Back to the thread.

Its the INDIE font, and therefore much maligned

good grief all my font abuse has to stop... I have a Fonting problem! I must admit it!

my first step, I will ask all those I have wronged ...for forgiveness.

I can't stand Journey or Styx  :dontknow:

Styx is my secret guilty pleasure... their 70s stuff is so nice and cheesy :)
I also really enjoyed their concert with a youth orchestra, which is on MTV every now and then..

Okay, maybe I don't hate it :P

I only say that because I've seen numerous facebook posts of people expressing hate for Papyrus, and I don't understand where it comes from.  Was it used in something really horrible that I don't know about?

Just overused.  The cognoscenti always get to hatin' on the ubiquitous.

I can't remember a time reading something from anyone that used Papyrus.  Comic Sans is a little lame, but not deserving all the hate.
BTW, I like Helvetica.  I watched a documentary about it (it was super lame.)
