What was the first album you bought with your own money?

In '86 I walked to the Bettendorf, Iowa Disc Jockey and picked up the cassette of the Pretty in Pink Soundtrack with my own money.  My friends listened to it with me and they didn't like it at all because they only liked metal.  I liked metal too, but I was also really into U2, INXS, REM, and bands like that which they hated.  They always gave me a lot of crap for that.  I still have the cassette and I still like that album.

I honestly do not remember.

I was surrounded by music at home and taken to rehearsals by my parents (both musicians) and got the odd album later on as a present. I think the first one I actually bought with some money that I earnt while still at school could have been Free At Last, by Free or possibly Fresh Cream.

I'm still young, so I've only been listening to music properly since about 2012, and was supported by my dad since then so I didn't buy my first album/EP until about 2015, which happened to be at my first ever concert. Was interested in one of the support boards so I bought their EP and have listened to them since. They're also the band that got me into listening to Technical Death Metal, which is probably up in my Top 5 favourite genres.

Some '70s compilation disc, probably with some Mud, Slade, Mout & McNeal. I'll take and post some pics next time I'm in France, that's where I have my vinyl now.

I really don't remember (late 60s, early 70s?) other than it was a "Carpenters" album, and it had this track on it...

Still one of my favorite rocks songs ever.
