I'm giddy. Both arrived yesterday. I should be working right now, I just can't, this is taking precedence.

I'm kind of in shock still. Man Warmoth did a stunning job - I figure taste in guitars is like taste in wine though - What do you think about this one?

This guitar is:

7 string flat body altered for six string neck
Quilted Sapele top laminate - clear gloss
Walnut pinstripe
Swamp Ash body-clear gloss
Routed for 2 P-90s (Kinman)
String through body
Standard Gibson bridge

Ziricote non reverse firebird neck with gold acrylic night swan inlay
6130 frets
Earvana compensating nut will go in
Sperzel locking keys
Sapele headstock laminate

Finally - I asked for custom pickguard suggestions and where I could get it made in the hardware section of this forum. After seeing what I thought was an incredible "Black Burst" strat with a mirror pickguard, I think I would like a gold mirror pickguard?
Love to know anyone's thoughts.
Cheers!
Tman

I love it!  I think its great when people think outside the box and end up with something cool like this.  Congrats!  Can't wait to see her finished!

Thanks man - I've been tachycardic ever since I opened the box. The pictures I submitted look a lot better than what shows up when you click on it. How do I improve on it?

Hope it was sinus tach, otherwise you're in trouble.

I guess I shouldn't joke about it now that I'm 50. The combination of this guitar and the copious amounts of caffeine I consumed today sure make me feel like it.

I think it looks great, apart from the gold mirror pickguard idea. But that's just me; I'm not generally a fan of gold on guitars. How about some kind of bronze colour, or failing that, black looks good with anything.

I think the best tx for sinus tach is playing a new CUSTOM just-one-in-the-world-and-it's-mine guitar, isn't it?

Ain't that the truth? That feeling plus the nice glass of wine I will have (after work) should be just what the doctor ordered.

Warmoth completely exceeded my expectations.
I tried taking a couple of more photos. Hopefully better!

You mean a pickguard or my crappy photography?
A reddish pickguard may be cool.

I'd like to know how to make the photo appear more normal sized rather than the giant thing it turns into (at least when I click on it). Maybe a Mac thing. :icon_scratch:

another vote against the pickguard.

And if you don't mind me asking, what was the upcharge to have the seven string body modded to be a six string? I'm assuming, of course that pickups and bridge had to be moved and the neck pocket was made smaller. Did you have to pay 3 different up charges for this?

I don't mind. I'm looking at the receipt now - there was a base charge for what was referred to as "6 string Gecko guitar" at $420 plus $20 for the pinstripe and then the usual charge for the clear gloss finish. They were really "can do" with respect to nearly every request I made. I wish there were more people like that with my daily work.

I meant the wine. Red?

-1 to the pickguard. I wouldn't put anything at all on it.
If you're completely decided to hide that beautiful wood porn with acrylic, try these guys:

They have stuff like this:

refelectionMirrorGold.jpg

Not obvious but that second one is a mirror finish.

If you're decided.

As my daughter once said "Duh Dad".
I've a bottle of Australian Shiraz (Faber 2006) queued up. Going to sit on the porch and just look at the guitar with the Columbia River in the background while enjoying it.

You know I may just keep it real simple and do a no pickguard thing - I mean with the rear routing it really would show off the Sapele and I'm not a Richie Havens kind of strummer anyway. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check these out.

WOW!! that is a really nice guitar, i like the concept of getting a wide body on a 6 string guitar

I think I'm gonna let the wood shine with no pickguard. Thanks for your comments.
