P.S. hipsters, thanks for missing out on this one ;)

“It’s time to move on,” Freeman told Rolling Stone from his home in New Jersey. “I’m retiring Gene Ween.”

So does that mean the end for Ween, the band that Freeman formed with high school friend Mickey Melchiondo (a.k.a. Dean Ween) in New Hope, Pennsylvania, in the mid-Eighties?

“Pretty much, yeah,” says Freeman. “It’s been a long time, 25 years. It was a good run.”

He continued:

“For me it’s a closed book. In life sometimes, in the universe, you have to close some doors to have others open,” says Freeman. “There’s no, ‘Goddamn that such and such!’ For me, I’d like to think it’s a door I can close finally.”

Looks like they probably are done, unfortunately.

somehow reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne's 1992 No More Tours tour.

Nothing is ever over.  DLR is in VH.  I've lost count of Eagles shows.  Brian Wilson did a new Beach Boys record.

Ween can't become zombies, though, because they were never human in the first place.

You may be a bigger fan than most, which is why you take them at their word.  People never stick with what they say they'll do.  20 years from now on their reunion tour, they'll say how good it feels to be back together and they always knew there'd be a reunion.  Then again, they're obscure enough, while having a very loyal cult following, no one may even notice.  They're not arena fillers afterall.  And make no mistake, this solo stuff will still be falsetto driven bit rock and include a lot of Ween tunes.  And too, the band had several members but was mainly 2 guys.  It's like Tom Petty or Trent Reznor going solo.  With the exception of Mike Campbell with Petty, how could one tell?

Mickey (Deaner) posted to the ween facebook right after article saying it was the first he'd heard of it.

I think Aaron is just in a bad place drifting in and out of recovery. I'd be shocked if they're really done, but if they are, there's definitely plenty of material to show they were here.
