Warmoth the 3rd - The Body Has Arrived!

are you getting one of those pickup cover or bridge-cover doodads like on the Marcus Miller and old J-basses?

I had been thinking of getting a plain one because this bass looks so sweet and old school:

But then I thought "Wait... Doug could put a W on it..."

yes, that looks awesome! I've always liked the chrome guards and covers that Fenders have . . . nobody seems to put them on anymore. I suppose they make it hard to do palm mutes and stuff, which is especially unfortunate on guitar, but dadgum they look good!

I don't think the bridge cover will be a big problem for me.  I think I'm just gonna use the ashtray and not the strappy bar thing in the middle though.

oh, but the bar in the middle is the most useful thumb rest!

I was thinking that, but I wasn't sure if it was going to help or get in the way.  It seems like if you wanted to move around and play closer to the bridge or neck at different times, it could be problematic.  I guess maybe I'll play this bass for a while before I decide if I want one.

Well, everybody knows that with the bridge cover in the way, you can't palm mute and pop and slap and play with your teeth and stuff. It probably never occurs to them that the reason people like James Jamerson and Duck Dunn wrote bass lines that defined the songs of an era was because they didn't palm mute and pop and slap and play with their teeth.

If you have space on it, the most important control will be a "WWJD" button - "What Would Jaco Do?" Then do the opposite.

Jaco would listen to you.  :icon_biggrin:

Bubinga/Pau Ferro 30", graphtech white nut, SS6150 frets, abalone dots.  And I'm gonna use the chrome Hipshot Ultralite tuners with the clover shape.
