John Mayer's tone is loaded with mids. his entire gear is mid-heavy... strat+dumble. He shapes the voicing of his tone with lots of singing highs and percussive lows, but that doesnt mean he's got 'no' mids![]()

his big dipper signature strat pickups were created with scooped mids. he also sets the dumble the same. You've never noticed the boomy, bouncy low end of his guitar solos and the blend of low and high in his rhythm playing? The only way i can come close to his tone is to turn the mids to about 3.![]()
