Warmoth as good as Fender and Gibson?

Youtube sound quality ain't that great and most of the sound will not be coming from the body woods but from the pickups that you use. Choose the wood looks right to you and agrees with your wallet, but I'll say that I've never heard a complaint about a korina warmoth body.

its all about the same. but you really neeeeed mids, to stand out in the band mix. no mids = not being heard!! I prefer mids+highs, others prefer mids + lows... but to prefer lows+highs is plain ol' stupid.

John Mayer's tone is loaded with mids. his entire gear is mid-heavy... strat+dumble. He shapes the voicing of his tone with lots of singing highs and percussive lows, but that doesnt mean he's got 'no' mids

This is what I've always said about my Warmoth guitar....

"This guitar cost me a total of about 1500 bucks. If it had a Fender logo on the headstock it would have easily cost me 3 to 4 thousand dollars and it wouldn't have the same quality parts that this has"

You're going to have a guitar that you wouldn't be able to afford if it was done it Fender's Custom Shop, and yes, I feel the quality is higher.

his big dipper signature strat pickups were created with scooped mids. he also sets the dumble the same. You've never noticed the boomy, bouncy low end of his guitar solos and the blend of low and high in his rhythm playing? The only way i can come close to his tone is to turn the mids to about 3.

ofcourse I have, but he also has a lot of mids, just enough to cut through the mix. As I said, he uses highs and lows to 'season' his tone, just like salt and pepper.

Right, I'm just saying that it's more the absence of mids that colors his tone rather than an influx of lows and highs, which is what rgjmce is saying he's after. A complete lack of mids is impossible, but they can be reduced dramatically.

so preferring lows and highs isn't "plain ol' stupid." It's a means of expression, or salt and pepper as you put it.
