Any recommendations for a sturdy guitar case for the VIP shaped guitar with the Warmoth style headstock?

You know, we've had a couple of other 'case' discussions, and I'm going to stick to my guns.  If you're a local musician, I honestly don't think there is a finer protective case than SKB.  I have about 6 or 7 different types of cases for my 12 guitars, and the SKB is simply the best built of them all . . . by a long way.  They're strong, the latch system is about ten times more sturdy than it actually has to be, the interior is plush, there's lots of storage space.  Check out this link:  I'm not sure of the exact fit for a VIP, but I think this is what you have in mind.

I think when I finally upgrade my Strat case, it might be to an SKB rather than TKL.  I have a couple TKLs already, but yeah I think the latching could be better.  Plus the bumpy surface makes my stickers fall off, and I just can't have that. :laughing7:

Are they heavy compared to most cases?

Yeah I have an SKB for my Explorer, awesome case. Just wasn't sure what shape would describe the VIP best.

Hannaugh,
When compared to the stock Fender or Gibson cases and the 'Musician's friend brand' cases, they are not any heavier . . . in my opinion.

Great, thanks for the info.

I know Marko and Metalman have VIPs.  They could probably recommend a case for you Miskatonic.  :icon_thumright:

I'm hunting for one for my baritone Tele too, none of the stock guitar cases will fit, so I'll likely have to go to a universal bass case, since most are fit for J or P basses.

Roadrunner had/has a case for about $80 (at GC) and the body fits real snug side to side (but you may want to put a small towel at the bottom to help with a little bit of a gap but it really doesnt move very much at all), the neck seems to be supported very well and it will handle an angled neck.  Dont know if I'd put it on a plane, but I would drive with it and feel comfortable.

I just ended up bringing my VIP to GC and found a case that fit it nicely.  Note that none of the PRS cases would fit the VIP body.

And all the guitar geeks there just drooled over the VIP, so there was an added bonus  :icon_biggrin:

I love it when you go to GC and they can't stop freaking out over your Warmoth.  That's just fun.
