It has taken me 13 Warmoth necks to finally discover that the Clapton shape is in fact the best shape in the world period. All you folks trying other carves just stop it pronto. From now on, only purchase the Clapton. I am serious. I put it on swirly and put swirly's neck on Heat Miser. You all better do it starting NOW!!IMG_6761.jpg

I have one Clapton profile neck on a 7/8 Strat and it is wonderful. However, on my two Fender Acoustasonic Gibson conversion guitars I went with standard thin. The Clapton profile is great for lead work and anything except playing a lot of bar chords. It's not a "soft V" profile and the point of the V is a bit too pronounced for extended bar chord playing.

Nope. Any neck I have ever played that even remotely resembled a V shape jumped so quickly out of my hands I thought it was on fire. I just don't get it.

Compared with the neck on a Fender Clapton Signature stratocaster, the Warmoth is a more pronounced V.

I agree that the Clapton profile is pretty frickin rad, but I am a cheap-ass mofo. They rarely show up in the Showcase, so I rarely contemplate grabbing one. The other profiles I have here - standard thin, boatneck (!) also feel pretty good in my hand. Maybe I'm just not a good enough guitarist to find my life vastly enhanced by one profile vs. any other.

Well that’s just like, your opinion, man.

I’ll take the 59 every day and twice on Sunday. As a caveat, I haven’t tried the Clapton. Next neck inbound is the “D” so I’m excited to see how that goes.
You better not bring a piece out onto the lane!IMG_6763.jpg Summer wear T-shirt

Please update us on the "D" when you get one, as I'm really curious about this as well

@Spud : ain't it nice when you find that perfect profile?

I just found my 3rd. Lol

My new favorite is my Ltd eclipse necks in general, with my ec1000fr as the best of the 3.

here is the shape at the 1st and 12th frets. Its 20/21 to 22/23mm in size.
The other 2 are sanding variations on this one.
One is flatter in the center (More d shaped) and a bit smaller. The other is the same profile but the same size as the 1000, giving it essentially a bit more shoulder.

The fatback was a previous prefect neck
Then the revstar necks. These are killer too.

A good neck is one that allows me to relax my hand to the point that I can player faster and longer. That's the only way I know how to judge them.
I do love:
Fatback
Boatneck
59 roundback
My ibby as73 neck (22 to 24mm c shape)
Revstar (21.3 to 25mm)

To land on a neck that is no the small side of my normal is surprising

My next warmoth will most likely be the srv
