I am curious what everyone uses for veneers.  I am not talking 1/4 lam tops but ultra thin veneers.

Wood glue?  Contact cement?
I am looking for best way to do this and I do not have a vacuum device.

Thanks

Here's an idea. I remember doing something similar in a woodwork class about 4 decades ago. You can also get veneer that is already glued ready for ironing. No idea how effective these are these days.

Might be worth some experimentation.

I used original titebond (red label) for mine - but I also used a manual vacuum bag (roarrockit)

Assuming you're in the USA, the manual vacuum bags are only $60 USD. POtentially a worthy investment to get the right outcome.

Heres my build thread with my veneer application:

There's a video series on YouTube by some kid that puts a top an an Ibanez Jem. Very DIY but it offers an interesting perspective. The whole build is 10 or 12 videos or something like that. I'll look for it shortly. It's probably been a few years since I've seen it.

Titebond makes a cold press veneer glue. You need to be careful that the glue you use isn't too moist or applied too heavy. A thin veneer can soak that stuff up. On the flipside I've known several people that have done several tops each and all have used regular Titebond.

Not veneer, but when I made my green paisley tele I glued the paper down with titebond III.  5 (6?) years later it's still on there very well.

OK.  I am going to give it another shot.  Titebond II.  I will use a roller to roll is all smooth and place a HUGE rice bag on the top to keep it flat.  Off to Costco. :rock-on:
